inside Moth
Moth has affirmations, quests, fun facts, reflections, and vocab words! Fun facts all have actual sources. And the vocab words are ones you might actually use. smart enough to be useful, BUT not so ridiculous that you start sounding sesquipedalian, which basically means someone who loves using absurdly long words. yes, I had to look that up.
Read an affirmation, do a quest, or explore collections. Reflecting quests save what you write to your Memory Jar automatically, so you can come back to it later.
There are weekly collections, plus daily collections for Moth+ because, yeah, I do have to make some money to keep Moth running. I still tried to make as much free as possible. You can also discover REAL moth species along the way.
You can share an affirmation as just the words, so your friend doesn't feel like you secretly sent them an ad. And you can also share an affirmation as a pretty card with your moth on it!
the idea
Moth gives you things to do, but you don't have to do all of them. Skip a quest. Read a fact. Come back later.
the details matter
Moth is simple on purpose. I still want you to know what's going on behind it.
Every moth you can discover in Moth is a real species, not a made-up mascot species.
Facts are researched against university, museum, government, species-database, and peer-reviewed sources.

common questions
If something is still unclear, you can always email support@mothselfcare.com.
I write all the affirmations that go into Moth. AND I even wrote why I wrote them too, so you can understand them a little better. In settings, you can turn on “see meaning,” which shows you the why behind each affirmation.
I try to keep them encouraging without making them feel fake, overly dramatic, or like they're promising everything is magically going to be okay. I want them to feel like something you might actually want to read or send to someone.
I look for words that are interesting and genuinely useful to know. I try to avoid words that are so basic you probably already know them, but I also don't want Moth teaching you giant obscure words that you'll never use in a normal conversation.
So I looked for a sweet spot. Words that aren't ridiculously long or obscure, but also aren't things you probably learned when you were 10.
I am a hugeeee fan of fun facts, so I do a ton of research and find things I genuinely think are interesting.
When I find a fact I want to add, I keep track of the source too so you can see exactly where it came from. Depending on the fact, that might be a university, museum, government or conservation organization, species database, or peer-reviewed study.
If something only comes from one study or only applies to one species or situation, I try to actually say that instead of making the fact sound way bigger than the evidence supports.
You can browse the sources behind Moth's facts on the Sources page too.
Your reflections and custom content are YOURS. Moth stores and processes them so the features you're using can work.
If you choose to sign in and separately enable cloud backup, that content can also be backed up and synced. The Privacy Policy explains the details about how Moth handles your data.
Yes! Moth is free to use, and I tried to keep as much of the app free as I reasonably could so it's actually enjoyable even if you can't or just don't want to spend money.
For people who do want some extra stuff, I added Moth+. It's an optional paid subscription with things like daily collections, extra moths to discover, more ambient sounds, themes, and some other extras.
It also helps me pay for the costs of keeping Moth running, which is pretty important lol. But yeah, you absolutely don't need Moth+ to use Moth.
The price and billing period are always shown before you subscribe, and subscriptions are handled through the App Store or Google Play.
Moth is coming to iOS and Android! Once it's available, you'll be able to download it through the App Store or Google Play.
Not at all. You can use Moth without making an account.
Signing in is mainly there for things like optional cloud backup and sync, so you can keep your progress backed up if you want to.
a little extra
Pick a little game. You can come back and choose another whenever you want.
