Welcome to Moth. These Terms of Service apply to your use of the Moth app and website. Moth is operated by Moth Self Care LLC (“Moth,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using Moth, you agree to these Terms.

Age requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to use Moth. Moth is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. If the law where you live requires a parent or guardian to consent before you use Moth, that consent is also required. If Moth learns that it has received personal information from a child under 13, Moth will review and delete that information as required by applicable law.
Not medical advice
Moth provides positive affirmations, self-reflection prompts, learning content, quests, and general well-being tools. Moth is for general self-care and informational purposes only. It is not therapy, medical advice, psychological counseling, diagnosis, treatment, or a crisis intervention tool, and it is not designed to diagnose, treat, or prevent any mental or physical health condition.
If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, seek appropriate professional or emergency help in your area.
Your content
Anything you write in Moth—including reflections, Memory Jar entries, custom affirmations, custom quests, and responses—remains yours.
By using features that store, back up, synchronize, or show your content back to you, you give Moth a limited, nonexclusive right to store, process, transmit, back up, synchronize, and display that content back to you as part of the Moth features you choose to use, only as reasonably necessary to provide, secure, maintain, and support those features. Moth does not claim ownership of your writing and does not sell your private reflections or use them for targeted advertising.
Accounts and acceptable use
You can use Moth's local features without an account. If you create an account, keep access to it secure. Do not misuse Moth, attempt to access another person's account, bypass security or subscription controls, interfere with the service, introduce malicious code, or systematically copy or scrape protected Moth content except where applicable law permits it.
Moth+ subscriptions
Moth+ is an optional paid subscription. Available plans, prices, billing periods, and important subscription terms are shown before purchase. Payments are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Purchases are also subject to the applicable store's terms and policies.
Some Moth+ collectibles are tied to a specific subscription period and may also have unlock requirements or deadlines shown in Moth. You must complete any stated unlock requirements to receive the collectible.
For monthly subscriptions, a collectible from a later subscription period is not awarded until the renewal covering that period succeeds, even if you complete its unlock requirements earlier. If your subscription ends before that renewal succeeds, you will not receive the collectible.
Annual subscriptions are paid upfront for the full term. While the annual subscription remains active, covered collectibles can be awarded on their normal schedule once their unlock requirements are completed. Re-subscribing later does not restore a missed collectible unless that collectible's rules specifically say otherwise.
Unless the purchase screen says otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until canceled through the store where you subscribed. Deleting Moth, signing out, or deleting your Moth account does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription. Refunds and billing adjustments are handled under the applicable store's rules and any rights you have under applicable law.
Third-party services
Moth relies on third-party services for functions such as app distribution, authentication, cloud services, time-verification services, support, and subscription management. Those services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy notices. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Moth is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law. Moth does not guarantee that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Moth Self Care LLC and its members, managers, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages or losses arising from your use of Moth. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited, or any nonwaivable consumer rights you have under applicable law.
Changes and contact
Moth may update these Terms as the service or legal requirements change. When material changes require additional notice or renewed consent under applicable law, Moth will provide it.
Unless mandatory law provides otherwise, these Terms are governed by the laws of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer rights and forums that cannot legally be waived remain unaffected.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to support@mothselfcare.com. Moth's Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled.
